Well, it’s easy and no, it doesn’t involve sleeping in a skip contrary to popular belief.

You just have to apply the Joey Ramone test when you’re choosing your clothes. When you look at that garment in the shops and you’re uncertain about it's suitability, ask yourself, “Would Joey Ramone have worn this?”. If you’re not sure, then refer to the sleeve an an early Ramones LP (Rocket To Russia is fine, for example) and check the pic. Also remember, any canvas sneaker makes a viable substitute for converse.
